Anyone know of any good spots along the canal?...
Can anyone tell me of any good spots at the canal?...
I usually fish the railroad bridge & was wondering if there are any good general areas that are turning out some decent bass?...
I'm heading down this evening... early I hope.

Hmmmm, interesting question, where do I start?
Pips rip
Good hole
dolphins
Stone Church
Herring run
Cribbin
1000 steps
playland
MMA
Bell rd.
RR bridge
Bourne bridge
keene st
radar tower
Portague hole
coal yard
Murphys' beach
etc. etc. etc.
Haven't we done this before?
there's fish all over, it's just a matter of luck finding them, and when you do, keep it to yourself, you'll be better off.

Mike T's site (M+D) has a link to a canal Map. Look for anything with a name. If its been named , its given up good fish over the years. Its a good place to start.

I got into some fish....nothing to replace our "FRONT PAGE" winners with though... GREAT JOB FELLAS!!

Bloo,
I finally caught my 1st keeper!... I got a 32" bass last night at the canal...
Despite the fact that my wife doesn't believe me, I released it.
I didn't make it out Monday night, but decided to wait & got down to the canal last night around 10:15pm.
The bass were hitting pretty well, but only for about 1/2 hour before they moved on...
This is really my first year of fishing saltwater having only been out few times over the past two years.
I'm hoping to spend this winter rod building and getting into some books on techniques for Surf Casting & on learning more about the habits & behavior as well as where the bass hang out... essuaries & tides... etc...
I'm also hoping to connect with some old timers who won't mind sharing some of their knowledge in regard to these things...
I'm sure that time & determination will pay off when I am able to effectively plan out where I can fish and tie into some of the larger bass...
I've already geared up & picked up some Korkers & Breathable Waders.
I saw some gigantic waves going down the canal last night
(not across it...) agaist the flow of the tide!... they were so massive, that I was questioning what could generate such a massive & enormous wake?... It was absolutely bizarre!!!...
I dont think that a submarine could match the mass of this wake!
But then again, I usually run into the bizarre whenever I'm at the canal!!!... But NOT LIKE THIS LAST NIGHT!!!...
Has anyone else ever seen anything like this at the canal?...

Congratulations Don!!
][I was at the canal last ][night also.. biggest fish I saw was - @mid - hi teens...one of two bikers landed em' * I played with the weenies for awhile on my lightweight ^Fin-nor, but with the tide so low...it was hard on the release, wettin me feet most a the time..with 6# test, I can't just spank and yank ...and Im' not sure what triggered it but....THE RATS WERE EVERYWHERE!!!...squealing away like no tomorrow...hopping on the seaweed that was floating on the water ...
Big Wakes?? ...the change of the tide??
.........splish splash - splish splash - the later ~ the greater.

A large tanker went through around 1015 and the wake was huge from it. That was the only wake I saw at that time, and it was running east during a west current.

The strange thing about this wake was the direction it was going ...
It was heading straight down the canal against the tide...
not towards the sides...
Would a tanker create such a massive wake, that it would flow parallel out from the stern?...
All I know, is that what I saw was bizarre!

Me & East tide saw some guys in float tubes fishing down the middle of the Ditch on a west tide across from Pips. We saw one guy get over to shore but it looked like another was heading for the plant as a tug was shooting a large barge thru. We weren't sure if the guy made it at first but 30 minutes later he was shufflin' up the path...

Naw, that was a couple years ago. I was out banging on rocks in the Clam Tonger's boulder magnet boat. There must be a lot of old FE in those Narr Bay boulders. We hit almost as many submerged objects as fish we caught ...
He even ruined his favorite plug getting it wedged in between the hull, and you guessed, a RoCk ...
But me and the clammer had some fun chasing fish around out part of the bay, not a blue in sight, just bass...

Arrrrghhhh, I'm trying like hell to bite my tongue here, but temptation is gonna get the best of me. Oh well
John, you sure those were float tubes, or was it a guy in a bucket harness hooked up to a giant BFT?

I once saw guys heading down the canal from east to west in float tubes while the current was going full tilt. I couldn't even believe my eyes. Some guys have more balls than brains!
