piked 1 up not long ago, very nice so far, wraps the line on evenly, no lumps, drag is good, the only problem so far is the 2 screws at the bottom of the stem needs to b glued in ,as they will come loose. I 'm useing 17# mono. on this 1, but I understand fireline or whiplash works great as well.......nice reel all & all , but only the test of time will reelly tell......it should be fine on the , 120 1l , but would jump to the 7500 on 120 1m.

Striperjerk, I bought a GV6500 from CCtackle this past spring and Mike checked all the screws for me prior to shipping. BTW, he has them for a great price

I have my 6500 on a 9ft lami 1081L . I use 14# fireline 20# will work too and 17# mono . On my 1201L I have a 7500 the 6500 seemed too small for the rod it didnt have the balance I was looking for . It will work fine if it is all ya have . I love the 1201L ! I have it as a spinner and conventional .
