Power Winch Guys
I have a new Power Winch, it works great and all, but it doesn't seem to hold the boat tight against the stop post??
I have a safety chain on there so its not going any were, But the boat rocks on there a bit, the drag screw on the side is tight all the way.
Is this normal? If so what do you guys do??
Thanks

you should be able to get it tight. Try adjusting the bumpers on the trailer where the bow and eye hook touch the trailer. FWIW I had a powerwinch and the gear sheared and my boat wentsailing back into the water at the ramp so make sure you put the safety chain on BEFORE you pull boat out of water. I would have been Bull sheet if my boat hit the cement.

MJ:
I have seen that sometimes with my P winch. What I did is rig it with keyhole slots and pins so that I can remove it. Then I put on my crappy hand winch and pull her tight for trailering.
But ususally as the boat settles during the drive, it will cinch up again if you hit the button.

I bought the Power winch RC30 last year. It worked great then, the last time I hauled the boat out from the water, it had a HARD time pulling it up. Thought it was the battery even though I charged it.
Until I saw smoke coming out of the cable spool area, I knew something was wrong.
Called powerwinch, and they said its the clutch assembly.
There're sending the parts under warranty, but still, used less than 10 times. And I have to repair it!

Mine is working perfect! I love it!
I have the safety chain real short so even if it does come out a little it isn't going any were!
But so far it has been staying just fine, must have not had it tight enough last year??

Do you mean when you release the power it backs off a little, instaed of staying tight. Mine does the same thing. I think mine has issues that need to be fixed. For now I put the chain and a strap on it and don't take chances while hauling it.
