Is your Marina Full?

I just saw on a TV News show that a lot of Marinas are almost empty this year due to fuel prices. There sure are a lot of boats sitting in peoples yards that have not been uncoverered. (Including Mine)

How full is you Marina?

I was just talking with a guy down in Georgia. He said the Marinas are almost full but Nobody is using their boats. They just sit there and have dock parties.

Id just as soon sit on my own porch in my own backyard rather than pay slip fees and not be able to afford to use the boat. What a waste.

Anybody have any ideas of what to do with a 44 ft Alum 49 passenger Boat? Worlds Biggest Bar B Que Pan? Maybe I can pull it around on a trailer and make a 2 lane DuckPin Bowling Alley out of it? Or A Macys Day Parade Float?

Or and this I am really thinking about; Build a nice wood cabin on thop of it and anchor it at my firends lake house on Winnipasauki.

How to keep the ice from freezing around it without using expensive electricity? Windmill? Batteries?

our marinas don't get full around here until end of may, and I would be willing to bet that they are all full or at least 90% of last year.

Marinas should make out OK this year IMO just due to the backlog of slips in demand. However I bet new boat sales are in the gutter for the next few years. I really don't see a light at the end of that tunnel. Eventually it may trickle down to marinas...keep in mind a lot of folks put the boat in and never go anyplace...they like sitting in the marina, it is like a poor-mans water front home.

My marina in Mystic is sold out again this year. Lots of cottage living now and less travel.

If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself!!

IMO the higher priced places are hurting. Marina Bay has an ad in the Herald daily, and a couple of others are advertising on Craigslist.
