Johnson Help

Need to replace the regulator on my 96 90hp Johnson, this looks like a pia. I bought the regulator, and the rectifier. I changed the rectifier already. The flywheel is gonna have to come off for the regulator.

Also I went out last weekend and it seems like the shift cable is binding a little, It was hard to get into neutral a couple of times, but it eventually went.

I cant help with the regulator but if the cable is sticking replace it. Mine (Johnson) snapped last year after it was sticking a few times. Easy fix. Good luck.

Agree with 'Reaper, how you also should look at the shift linkage grommet on the top of the lower unit. That sometimes is the problem. mine is be replaced today along with the water pump repair kit install I am doing.

Had throttle, shift cables changed as well as the grommet, and water pump, all should be well now. Charging system is back in business too
