A couple firsts...

Redlite, TO and I had a fishing trip planned last night. Tony and Mike have been fishing hard and I've been faking it for over a month. Anyways, I get up at midnight to pick up TO and he's garbage. Mike's fired up but weary from the big night just past. I'm just a tired %$%$%$%$ bum but had intentions of going at it hard. I stop at redi mart and pick up both a coffee and water. Coffee for yes (west wind) and water for no (east wind).
I head over to TO’s and on the way I call Redlite for the wind report. He phones back and says it’s not suitable for the place we want to go. I pull into Tony’s and he comes out without any gear, just ambling down the driveway like a lost sheep. This is a first and I know he’s not going. After a quick chat we both decide to get some sleep and call Redlite in the AM. The coffe is going untouched tonight, so I open the water and take a sip before going home to sleep. We figured Redlite would slam the fish without us and we’d regret the option to sleep, but were too tired to care.
Anyways, I get the call this morning and its Redlite chuckling on the other end. I’m pissed and thinking he’s going to need us to take pictures for him again today. As it turned out the fish were quite safe last night. Redlite’s vehicle made it to the water, but he fell sound asleep behind the wheel until this morning without taking a cast(another first)
Oh well, there's always tonight......

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

Thats an awesome story and I appreciate the caffeine/coffee part. There have been times I loaded up on the way to the water and for some reason couldnt fish, wind, high surf and was screwed at 1 am!

making s-b.com a kinder, gentler place for all

Good story Mike. Many a time anchored boat, taken pram through the surf with eels, rod, self to the spot only to have a bum night and have to wait untill first light to leave spending nightcold, wet, fishless. Can,t wait to do it again
