Wetsuit/Rocktop First

So Don/Afterhours, myself and our 2 buddies got blown off Cuttyhunk a day ahead of schedule due to the coming bad weather....which sucks! However I did get to do some rock hopping for the first time while I was over there! First time on top of a piano sized rock with the depth around the rock only about 6 feet at high water I got my first striper from off a rock! It was pretty damn awesome to say the least and the fish were smashing pretty good, had a couple 30 pound fish take a violent swipe but missed them! First fish I had on was about 23-24 pounds, got her to the rock and slid her up but the barb on one of the hooks bent (I think I had my drag set too tight-lesson learned) and she dropped off at my feet! This one was only about 34 inches I think? Didn't weigh or measure....just glad to have her for dinner....she became fish cakes! Got a few smaller fish but just being out on that rock was a huge advantage and I absolutely loved it!

Nice pictures Lawrence. Suit really shows off your girlish figure. 6' would have been way over my head.

Congrats on christening the wetsuit, Larry. Looks like you had a blast fishing to go along with some nice weather out on the island!

I had christened the wetsuit about 3 weeks ago, been catching to 28 pounds but not from on top of rocks! Its an entirely different way to fish! Alot of fun!

I wish Ed! Thats what you call 300 pounds jammed into a 250 pound sack! When you slip on that suit and zip er' up you lose 50 pounds! Quite the slimming effect! Bring on the donuts!

The one on the left got the tail treble buried in its eye......so by the time I got it out the fish was done so I kept it for dinner and to give some to a neighbor. The other one had no problem with either eye as far as I know.....I tried to revive that one but she would not go......so to the table she went!

Dawg-
Not to take anything away from the drytop boys but you can get a good wetsuit for $100-200 depending on quality and size...or a good used one at the surf shop for substantially less. I just picked up a new O'Neil suit (3/2) for under a hundred and will put it to good use next week in Cutty. If it is chilly I will go with the 5 mm.

Jim S- Great idea...believe me .

nice fish larry!

way to go

what are you using for boots on the rocks,? I would assume korkers and wet suit booties?

Larry;
If the fish is tied to your ankle, be careful.
Much better with a longer rope around your waist...

Larry we met breifly at last plugfest, I'm a big guy also 6'5" 300lbs. Where did you say you got your wet suit and korkers. It looks like fun and us big guys can't just walk in any where to get something that fits. Also what was the cost. Thanks in advance. Matt
