Van Staal $
There are rumors of price increases to on the Van Staal reels as early as Jan 2, 2009 along with orders placed after the 20th of this month.
I would have expected a heads up post from our S-B sponsor, Saltwater Edge before this post being that they are this regions largest dealer.
Don't need to know if it is justified only if the rumor is true or false.

If people are buying VS (or any other product) off the shelves in fast numbers, the price will stay the same or go up. If the reels go up in price and sit on the shelves, expect some sales
Most people that need a VS have a VS. Many who want one might wait it out for a while....
Victor, I don't think SWE is obligated to bring that up. To hear something would be a bonus, of course.

They are going up. Forget exactly how much and I forget exactly when, but shortly after the new year if not immediately after the new year.
Sorry I didn't post anything up here Victor, I generally don't bother addressing Van Staal issues in forums anymore. It's definitely not that I don't care and I don't mean to sound negative by saying it's a waste of time, but at the same time, that's EXACTLY what I mean. The debates were old years ago and the topics never change. It's like the Hatfields and the McCoys. Life's too short, ya know?
VS owners and potential owners who want fast answers or fixes to potential problems so they can go fishing (which is what we're all here to do) can come by the shop anytime, give us a call or email, or send me a PM here. We are ALWAYS happy to help VS owners (no matter where you bought your reel) and potential owners with on the spot repairs and support. Craig will be up at the SWE a couple times this winter to hold classes to teach people how to service their reels as well.

in september, I went to cabelas (I prefer local shops, but I still go... its 5 miles away) and started talking to an employee who proceeded to tell me that VS 200's (silver) were on sale unadvertised for 501.00 since they now only carry the gold, and were clearing out the silver. They had 3 in the store, he bought one, the 2nd was reserved for another employee, and one was free... He proceded to give me a coupon which gives you a store gift card for 150$ if you spend 500$ so if you do the math, I got a silver VS 200 for $351.00 I was there to buy a quantum cabo which was 200. Im not sharing this to rub it in your faces, I'm just going to say that 350$ was still a struggle to cough up... sure its a great deal, but only as far as VS's go! I still paid 350 for a reel... I would never pay 700 for a reel. Is it worth 700? maybe for some, but not to me...
