Question Fly fishing for Tautog

Does anyone actively fish for or have experience fishing for Tautog using flys? Perhaps a crab pattern would work though I know they rely heavily on their sense of smell.

Thankyou, Lobsterman

Shrimp patterns will work. But I've seen them hit clousers too.

Best bet is in the spring when the females come into the shallows to breed. They get very aggressive. I've seen big blacks taken on tins in the spring!!

Fly fishing for Tautog

Thanks for the good info - can't wait for the spring to try it out. Should be a nice change from catching stripers all the time!
