Auction for site, flyvise

I finished up a project last week that I have been picking away at for the winter. I am donating 1 of these to the site for an auction to raise some $$$. They have the Renzetti saltwater cam jaws which will hold up to 8/0 and bigger. The rest of the vise has ideas taken from Renzetti and an old popular mechanics article a guy gave me 2 years ago. He bet me I couldn't make one, although I think he just wanted one. Pretty much same vise I made year before but not out of titnaium this time. Too expensive. Rotary style. It is all stainless, delrin washers , and aluminum base.
Anywho It will go up day after too cold to fish nite. Be generous as I have $130 invested in a vise for materials, jaws, and lots of sweat equity. I will drag one to plugfest and too cold to fish nite if anyone wants a closer look. Thanks

Wow, Paul -

Incredible piece of work on the vise - I remember seeing a similar one that you made and posted a while back -

Very generous of you, too -

I'm gonna have to bid on it - hope my shallow pockets right now are deep enough but I'll take a whack at it -

Look forward to seeing it live and in person at TFCTFN - beautiful job!

OH MAN that is a thing of beauty...I REALLY want one....really... I was thinking of getting a renzetti but couldn't pull the trigger, then considered others, still making due with my vise i had when I was a kid. You have too much free time!! Nice work, really nice work. I am jealous I don't have skills like that.

Looking forward to biddding on this one. I would also consider buying any one of the others if they need a home....

I agree, a raffle will raise more than an auction.

John, sell tix on Sat. at the fest maybe, and then online too.

That is unbelievable, Professor. I don't know anything about fly vices, but I can tell that is one beautiful piece of equipment. Outstanding craftsmanship and I love the engraving on the base! I would love to have even a sliver of the talent you have.

You guys are good for my ego, I guess after 30 years you tend to get good at something or at least strive too. It is a pretty simple project as far as what I do for work but finding the time factor always makes it a more difficult endeavor. Seriously though I want to make some $$ for the site so I agree a raffle would be better. Say maybe have the drawing at too cold to fish maybe that way you get more tickets sold at that event too. Good idea guys. It is up to John. It's his vise now.

By the way what is this spare time thing? I have no concept of that.

You should auction or raffle it here. There are so many things at TFCTFN that a special item like this will just get lost in the shuffle. It will not increase the amount people spend that night. Most peole head out knowing how much they will spend before they get there. Sort of like a budget for the night.

I vote raffle. If you sold 100 tickets (which would be easy) at 5 bux a pop they would probably all go tomorrow. If auction, bidders would drop off rapidly when it gets over $150 or so.

Just my 2 cents...

I was just using a random # with the 100. 200 is very doable. Just have a set drawing date (not too far away to keep the anticipation level up) and let tickets fly.

You are right Dave. Probably best bang for the buck. I think we should do it at both events, tomorrow and next Saturday and pick it at the too cold to fish nite so both groups will get a chance to throw away some cash. There will be quite a few people who will not attend tomorrow but will next Sat.
