I thought he was very good. Pretty thin on specifics, and he's still spending money we just don't have. All in all, a good positive feel which I think is timely.
I just couldn't watch it and look at Pelosi chomping on gum the whole time in the background. She really is a piece of work.
Didn't think Pelosi was good - she looked like the proud Kindergarten teacher.
I thought Obama was good and if he can deliver half of what he said, especially the parts about Americans digging in and doing it, we'll be a better place for it.
I liked when the republicans remained seated when they mentioned the passage of the bill for expanded healthcare for children.
That's a Hallmark Moment - I hope they roll that tape for them at the gates of paradise.
Or how about the standing ovation for stating that they had "inherited" the deficit? What the hell is that? That's like applauding the crash of the Hindenberg because we fly in planes.
I did like the rip (deliberate or not) against Deval Patrick when he mentioned that ALL governors would be accountable for the spending of the stimulus money, and not to waste it on "fancy drapes and expensive vacations" at the expense of the taxpayers.
We'll have to see if this "medicine show" really does cure our problem or just add to it.
He didn't do the Republican party any good, that's for sure.
You mean talking to the American public like they were toddlers? I thought he was condescending and not 100% truthful (not saying Obama is always 100% honest, no politician is). Being in the field I am, I pick up on certain things. If I was a wall st. banker I'd pick up others. What was said early on was something like '140 Million for volcano monitoring'... when really all he did was grab the first line of an summary of what that was going to the USGS, to reair and upgrade facilities that include some for monitoring seismic data (Earthquakes) Potential for volcanic eruptions, stream gauging and resource mapping....
you can argue whether or not it's in the right place, but don;t stretch it completely out of context... of course, it might seem more critical if a volcanic eruption buries Seattle, or programs to mitigate damage from Earthquakes is gone......
As far as BO's speech, I think it was good. It is reassuring to actually have someone 'presidential' give a speech, although those events are always funny to me. They stand and clap and random statements, no one messes with Joe (SNL skit in the making) and Pelosi looking like she had too much BoTox... I'm waiting for some details in the coming weeks, hoping it stays 'transparent'

The president who has pledged to reverse much of Reagan's economic revolution took a page from the 40th president's playbook in his 52-minute speech, striking a defiantly optimistic tone that belied the nation's sour mood and rebutted critics who have accused him of intentionally talking down the economy for short-term political gain.
Huh? defiantly optimistic tone? Are you kidding me? This guy has been so negative that both sides have been criticizing him for all the negativity. Now he changes his tune and its defiant? What a freakin joke, who is he defying, himself?
I agree with you though, it was a nice rallying cry but a little more specific would have been nice. On the other hand, he talked for 53 minutes. Can you imagine how long it would have been if he got specific?

Good as in" nice presentation" not the material.
How about 53 minutes of specifics and skip the rallying cry.
I hope someone has a plan for paying for everything he promised, because with that idiot in the booger green dress jumping up and down cheering over his shoulder, it's all going to pass with out a second thought. SCARY and we warned you. HOLD ON YOUR WALLET! Nothing is in the way now.
Bryan, the reality is that no amount of money spent on the USGS is going to do one freaking thing for the economy. Thats the main complaint, a CARE package was crafted under the guise of a stimulus bill.
BTW, didnt see Jindal but I like him. gut tells me it will be him running in 2012 and he may win.

1) Create nonsense plan or policy
2) Ignore educated research to why it's bad policy
3) Follow through with nonsense policy
4) F**k everything up
5) Realize you F**ked everything up
6) Blame the Democrats for not fixing it
7) Rinse and repeat.
I can apply this algorithm to just about any major policy Bush has put into place.
As a note, I don't trust anyone in politics. It's merely a matter of, who do I distrust less.

You choose to believe only what you want to believe. I'm not saying Bush is off the hook on everything. You fail to understand the facts and timeline and place any of the blame on the Democrats. You and others just keep saying" Bush did it,it's his fault".

Not at all. The Dems have a lot to do with the current issue in which we are in. However, with regards to the video you posted that's basically Bush and Cheney blasting the Dems, I see it as above.
My post was in now way a Republicans vs. Democrats. It's that I think Bush and Cheney's policies are 70% at fault for our current state. Just about every single policy they put into place has been an extremely huge failure - No Child Left Behind, Invading Iraq because they have WMDs, massive tax rebates in an already moderately strong economy, taking unbiased scientific research out of environmental policies, firing people from NASA for creating reports on greenhouse gases... I could go on and on and on.
Then, when the policies fail, Bush and Cheney were the first ones to either blame the Democrats directly for their failure, or blame the Democrats for not immediately coming up with a fix.
As I said before, this is not about Repub vs Dem. It's about Bush and Cheney being complete failures and blatant hypocrites.
I wasn't arguing that, I agree it may be pork... but say something that sounds less like some guy is getting 140mil to sit on a volcano and watch it...
Not unlike the bill that got so watered down that it was reported the Obama was advocating we give sex ed to 5year olds...
I don't like distortion from ether side!
