I tried both in 30# and had problems w/spinning gear. 40# or above and I've had no problems with any type of application. I 've used strictly power pro for the last three seasons due to its consistent performance. I use 40# spinning and 65# conventional. Very good stuff.

Suffix last year was a pleasant surprise, especially in the <50# ranges, where PP has failed me. Liked it a lot. Still use PP in 50# and up.

I've use both and give the nod to suffix but powerpro is just fine. If you don't mind dropping a little extra coin I would give Saltiga braid serious consideration. That stuff is probably the best thing that I've used but it is expensive (i think 200 yard spools run about $35).

I've used Sufix for the last three years with no problems at all. Been buying the 300 yard spools because of the 10. off coupon rather then bulk spools..

I was all Fireline, but gave suffix and PP a shot last year. Suffix and PP is one in the same IMO, didn't notice a benefit of either in the 50lb range.

I noticed alot of guys use heavier line poundage on conventionals, is there a reason for this other than to minimize birdnests? Or do you just fish area's where heavier line is needed?

I have 65lb PP on a 704 and it works fine.

I have the Daiwa Saltiga braid in Green . Cost is not much more than PP.

The braid I'm referring to is multicolored but the primary color was blue. I'm sure it comes in other colors. Does that sound like the same stuff?

I used Power Pro a couple of times and had issues with it. Im a 100% suffix guy now. Also from the SWE video its a little stronger in the rocks. (not by much) but it gets the nod in my book.

My first cast with suffix last fall resulted in a lost SS popper, I'll stick with fireline!

I've had a problem wiht 65 lb PP on my cod rod. First two seasons it was fine, then last year I started to get Mystery break offs a few feet from the end. Tried cutting it back by about 25 yards and still got the break offs, so its time to change out the braid. IMHO good line should last more than 2 years. BTW - the only time it was exposed to the sun is while I was actually fishing it.
