Southwest Wind

Seems like its been weeks since we've had any "Summer Wind." People are still catching fish but.... has it hampered your production with regard to any of your "go to" surf spots?

I think we're also in between movements of fish right now. The summer resident fish should be setting up shop in the next couple weeks. New moon on 6/22 should kick things up.
You can unquestionably work around less favorable wind conditions, but the sou'west really sets up a number of my preferred summer spots.

I've been getting plenty of so far this season....the eels in my livewell have turned white they've been in there so long...my kids want to keep them as pets and name each one individually...

Seems like the daytime bite has lingered a little further into June than last year.

C'mon George, the wind would have been a perfectly good excuse. It's working for me...

Yes, because most of the spots I fish are good on a SW wind. However, one of my good NE spots has been very, very good since mid-May. Steve

Oh, the fishing was real good but it was just very difficult and not a lot of fun.

No boat, back in the suds.

Although I find the wind ver important the sheer number of barometric up and down seems to be messing with some spots I fish. When one weather pattern is established it can be figured out, but the last week or so it's bee a nightmare...prior to then it was very good!!!!

these East and Ne winds have put a damper on my tin boat activity in the Bay recently. Up until last week it didn't matter because I was in sheltered areas but I've wanted to go out further lately and it has just been too rough.

Made a few casts after work, just as the tide bottomed and turned. Wouldn't advise going, at least up here on the east facing spots.

Tonight's high tide is gonna be a doozy...11.2ft here, then add the surge from the NE. Could be worse...Think of the poor guys and gals on vacation this week at Block Island Race Week... If they are actually racing, they're getting pounded.

By the time the SW arrives Thursday, I'll be trying to fit a week's worth of outdoor work into two days...

Yup pretty much stunk last 2 mornings. Small fish if you were lucky to catch one and not many guys out there. What a nice week for a vacation, not.

Looks like more of the same stuff(NE Wind) on the way. Seems to be a lot of real small fish in many locales too. Gonna give it a go tonight, but confidence is pretty low.

I've been hitting my good NE wind spots when conditions permit, but its been either real slow or real small fish.
One night about a week ago the wind came around SSW for a night and I did pretty well in one of my RI spots. Guys that are getting them from shore are working extra hard or utilizing boats to get into remote spots...either way its been a bit of a grind. I've seen it slow before, just never seen this much onshore wind ever in my fishing life, though.
