Has anyone fished Fisher's Island from the shore

I have fished it from a boat and have visited the island several times (rod-less) and there are a few intersesting surfs spots I found. I was just wondered is it fished much from the shore?

I would love to fish that spot from shore. I've seen some overhead photos that looked REAL interesting!! Something to look into next year??

I understand that the spot to fish there from shore is Race Point which I think you get into from the airport????? I have fished it from a boat and have seen guys climb out on the rockpile at Race Point and cast from there. I know there are a lot of good fish right there too!!! I also know a kid got a big fish last year on the opposite side of the island from shore which is called East Point. Don't know if there is access there or if he lived on the property. All in all I think access is the biggest problem out there, but the entire island is a striped bass goldmine!

I rode my bike all around the island. There are some cool trails near the airport and you can walk/ride your bike right down to the beach. There are several nice points that looked very sweet. The east end, is private. They have a road block with a guard who stops you if you do not live out there.

That said, I think the public area (west end) offers some access and some real potential for outstanding surf fishing maybe even better then the east end.

I have fished it from a boat too, and it but it looks like a sweet surf spot.

Next spring I will give it a shot.
