How about them tides the last couple days?
Jeeeus! Most fixed docks were submerged yesterday, high tide line was WAY up the beach and there was some serious erosion due to weather. New moon at its perigee and a storm that would not go away were the culprits.
Last night I thought it should be mostly over and headed down to squibby by myself. There was no beach. The parking lot stone wall looked more like a bulkhead. Waves were smashing into the stone wall and reflecting back out to sea creating a nasty interference pattern right about where I would be standing. but it wasn't safe to stand there. Further down the beach the water was so high that I would have been difficult to cast in places. There were a few guys that went out to around the point and found places to fish I am sure but it wasn't safe for a loner like me headed in the other direction...went home and caught up on my sleep for the weekend.
The potential good news is it might have finished off a few plovers on those E facing beaches....  |

yup. 11.3 ft predicted for the high up here yesterday with a -1.5 low (that's alot of water movement), and that's without the NE wind.

Moon tide corresponding with summer soltice. This is a great time of year to drown or lose your kayak.

I have had three calls about damaged finger floats or riverfront docks that need replacing or repair, including my sister's... Can't get to any of them before the holiday though. Need to catch up on a couple decks that have to be done by the fourth....
I do want to get out at low tide to see wha has been carved out of my favorite surf spots though. Excellent reconnaissance time.

I was amazed at the water flowing thru Woodshole this morning as we drifted in a boat. Like fishing on a roller coaster.

I think that's what led to that boat sinking off Salisbury.

Last night in a spot the wades about up to your chest at high tide was completely over my head. It took a full swim to get to. Never seen it that high before.

The Hurricane of 38 hit on Sept 21 (the autumnal equinox) and was at was at full power through high tide. Plus it rained for four days previous....

Made a run to Gay Head last night....first time in years. Big mistake. High water and big surf had my back to the cliffs, the water was full of weed and clay, got knocked down and drenched my reel so when finally home at 1:30 am I'm tearing down a Calcutta Te to save the bearings, while standing in a soaked wet suit. All for a single 25" fish  Great sport we picked, ain't it.  |

I can not remember ever seeing tides this big. I haven't even been able to fish my normal rocks cause they are buried under about 6 feet of water.

Or maybe not. You have to tell yourself it's a character builder, I guess...
I went out locally last night and the tide was already up to the high tide mark almost 3 hours before high - big tide swell on the incoming, bigger than I expected - I'm glad I didn't opt for the Pt Jude Joe Slip 'n' Slide out at the Point... 
Even at my Grandma spot I had to stand 20 feet back and 5 feet up on the rocks - for a slow pick of smaller fish and shanking the hookset on a nicer one with it swimming right at me...
At least I have the day off today - since getting into bed at 2:30 AM and up at 7 has rendered me unfit for work of any kind.
Beautiful night, nice whitewater, dark as pitch - perfect except for the lack of fish of any real size...  |

It went well for me. I got a few bass yesterday. Sandeels were all over CCB. Two keepers. One blues. Not bad after the storm.

Be careful you might jst get what you ask for...RE_NESTING
The Plovers will renest if a clutch is lost beforel mid July. Re-nesting just extends the closures!!!!! |
