New Moon, Big Tides....

And maybe a fish or two

Yup, gonna go on the prowl tonite...

No doubt it's gonna be hunt and peck - did some recon Monday before sundown, took a spin on my friend Komes' (who owns Flo's Clam Shack) new boat and cruised into the night... ended up with nada, nothin' - the old skunkaroo......and we covered a lot of water

No bass, we were actually looking for bluefish - for shark bait - he left this AM for the MV Shark Tournament and wanted to load up. We didn't see a single bird, ran into one small pod of fish on Washington Ledge that came and went, marked a little bait but that was it......I dunno

It was a nice night for a boat ride, anyway I guess - and a real nice boat. Brand spankin' new 38' Fountain offshore sportfisherman, triple supercharged 300 Mercs and it flat ass flies...45 mph at 4200 rpm, top end is probably 75 to 80......the thing that freaked me out was how quiet it was

But I'll be back to hoofing it tonight - I still like my rocks, too old to change now...like I tell Komes, ya don't need no stinkin' boat...

But it was pretty damned sweet...

BTW, if any of you S-B'ers are on the Vineyard or in the tournament, look for the sportfisherman 'Shack Attack' - she's sorta hard to miss with the 4' high Flo's graphics down the side - and he's got a t-shirt cannon loaded with the latest in ClamWear and hats, too...

Just tell him Dr Rocco sent ya, he'll know...it's just the old moniker from my early days at the Bon Zoo...the waitresses gave me the nickname...I have no idea why...

Yeah, looks like he's gonna stay, too...

See what happens when you put your faith in the humble quahog after 30 years - there's big money in bivalves, I guess - but ya gotta work for it and work he did, as much as I like to bust him

Flo's Topside in Middletown jams, great locals spot - and it's where you'll always find a fine collection of fish-heads slaking their thirst...

Ya know, come to think of it, he oughta sell tackle up there...

Wait'll I tell him I got into fish last night on foot - I think that's why he tries to bring a token Portagee with him, just to up the odds a little...

We used to go to their Island Park location when I was a kid. Loved the place then and the new place is pretty damm cool. Was there a couple of weeks ago to get my fill.

New moon in July= Prime time for big doggies...

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

Been on some decent fish for two nights but since I actually slept, filled a new spool, tied leaders (first time since may), and finished work I will get a big fat goose egg.

did you catch anything? I got skunked fishing for fluke, although it was a south shore Ma. area and not expecting a lot but thought it was worth a try. Had to launch in the mud but picture perfect beautiful day though.

several good seabass, I am trying to be more directed towards them and not the fluke given the cull rate for the fluke
