Seems i am hearing the bite is slow for everyone i talk to, the problem with going to the other side of Gloucester is it seems to take forever to go thru the Annisquam river, my boat is moored on the Wingersheek beach side, but if that is what it will take to put a keeper in the boat, i will start taking the slow ride to get to the other side.

Eels on a rising tide at night always works on Joppa Flats, I would presume many of the areas of the Essex River estuary would be similar.

GO TO THE OTHER SIDE!!!! It only take 30 Min to run up the river. What is 30 min if it gets you into larger fish? Lots of Macs outside the harbor and where there are macs............

good to hear macs are back.
dude, i do that run through the annisquam maybe 20 times a season. if you have a mooring you've been on the waiting list a while i assume, nature of the beast. drag a tube and worm on your way to the other side.
stop complaining, you are fishing.... enjoy the time you have on the water. yea after the first few times the sites are not as "WOW" but your on the water and that is something only a few people have the luxury of doing. despite the line at the ramp.

Headway speed is 5 MPH in the Annisquam, $100 bucks if caught speeding, it would take you an hour to go end to end, plus you have to be a fruit cake to do the river on a good weekend, you are tail gating one boat behind the other. And some times you have a twenty minute wait for the bridge.
Graves, go off of Halibut Pt. the big rock pile go straight out to the 30 fathom line start fishing. Big stripers hang out on that line. And so do Dogs. It is no fun when the dogs are there. No matter where you fish along the shore get yourself in ten to 15 feet of shore where you can see the bottom and sight fish if you see fish stop and fish. Fishing could be good or bad no matter where you fish. Get your ass out there at day light brings the most activity for about the first three hours.

Had two tunas on with in 15 minutes of each other the other day, broke the 30lb test line while striper fishing 1-1/2 miles out on live mac's.

That is sweet, sounds like you need a bigger set up for Tuna, I have a setup, but no permit to fish for them, would have had a chance to head out tomorrow for stripers, but of course the weather, Conractors should be done this week, will finally have some weekends to fish.

slight exagerations to make your point here i think.
it's about 3.5 miles from one side to the other. and you know as well as i do most people don't get hassled going between 5 and 10 mph as long as they ain't throwing a huge wake. So I stand by slicks estimate.
yes the river is stacked with boats if your trying to fish mid morning on. but not when you should be fishing for striper. im not saying i don't resemble a fruit cake from time to time but i have had very little issues with boats at 0530
he never said how big his boat was but I've never had to wait I love cruising by everyone even at the highest of tides
i still say head to the other side.
