How come the "smart car" looks so stupid?

Every time I see one of these vehicles it appears to have two obese people inside it and it looks absolutely ridiculous.

I hear about the good crash test rating but it seems to me that the results must be skewed somehow because there is not much material to absorb impact.

The only thing smart about it is that it'll save you the expense of buying a coffin. They can plant you right in what's left of the car as you'll be totally encased in it.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools, because they have to say something.

Its a coffin on wheels! I can't imagine that in a head on crash or even to take a hit broadside at a moderate speed that the occupants would not be at the very least badly injured or more likely killed! Guarantee if its a high speed impact they will be carving the occupants out with the jaws of life and a saw! The car itself is so damn small.....can't imagine you can fit anything in there with you???

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

It's not even that fuel efficient. It was designed as a city car that is easy to park.

Considering most cars are made of plastic these days i would say not to many safe cars out there to begin with in a head on collision.Like Joe said it is meant to be a city car and i think its perfect for that purpose just like a farmer or rancher needs a pickup a citidiot needs a smart car.

Looks like some "smart juice" ran out on the street after being squeezed like that.

I checked on the price, and the basic, no-"thrills" model runs just under $12,000.00

Oh, and if you want to check for yourself, be prepared to be inundated with emails from the company, as if they are BEGGING you to buy one of these lunch boxes.

Thought I'd pass along this info.
(I'll stick with my "NON-cash for clunker" pickup truck.)
