From New Guy To Forum, Has any one been surf fishing Calverton or there abouts on North Shore of L.I. with little (2 one 32" one short) striper results. Been Deligently out on beach for about 2 1/2 years some results but nothing to brag about. To be totally truthfull I have a been fishing more then fourty five years mostly bottom fishing s. shore and need some feedback on North Shore E. End surf fishing as I live here now. Do I have to take day trips to Montauk! (no secret spots expected) Just conversation. Thanks guys in advance.

The north fork of LI has been really slow this fall. Lack of bait seems to be the reason. Southampton and Easthampton beaches have had bait in the form of sand eels and anchovies. All in all it's still been a slow fall run.

N. Shore east end,
Thanks for reply. I do not expect to get results were others have found little, but as many fishermen have found that a striper on the end of a line while surf fishing is a experience not to be found anywhere alse.

The north fork can be fantastic. I don't have much experience fishing Riverhead beaches, but have had ridiculous days on some different Southold beaches. There still might be some bunker and blues in the Peconic River, if you are inclined to look over that way.

I try to be polite to all but my Daughter heard me refer to an "Asian" guy as being Oriental, now I have to remember to say Asian guy or gal or my politically incorect self will end up getting KUNG FUED or should I say get butt kicked by Asian man with knowledge Martial arts! AHH the heck with it I have nothin against any one unless they do not throw back the "little ones"! In which case a good old fashioned American A-- kicking is in order.

OT: re: "Orientals"
My mother-in-law tells me she bought a watch in the streets of NY for $5 from an oriental... I asked her..you don't think it was stolen?..."No!" she says in an insulting tone..." it's not stolen, I paid the oriental $5 for it! "
I crack up each and every time I see that watch
-------------------
Perhaps the Orientals he means are the good folks that live in Orient Point LI ?
