blank for cod fishing

I am thinking about purchasijng a blank that I could turn into a rod for jigging and using bait for cod. I am not sure on the length and what rating the blank should be, as well as what company I should by from. Should I use rollers or regular guides. I am confused on this one, but am interested in building one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thnaks, Derek.

Derek, I think there are some specs for a Cod Rod in Advanced Custom Rod Building... Assuming that you are fishing from a boat, a nice sturdy meat stick should be fine with the heavy duty fuji guides but you really don't need roller guides. How often are you going to use it??
