Bob Pond Dies
He died tonight after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, finally succumbing to an infection. Bob was 92.
Arrangements will be forthcoming in the next couple days.
Any and all condolences may be sent to
Avis Boyd
267 Mendon Rd
North Attleboro, Ma
02760
Many remember Bob from his tireless work producing lures, talking with anyone about fishing, giving advice, and his remarkable efforts in the conservation of Striped Bass. May he now rest in peace and all his lines tight up in heaven.

Bob Pond
I remember going up to Mr Ponds shop in north attleboro. He would allways take the time to show me his shop. One time he gave me an ancient black atom forty from the back wall of the shop. He was a nice guy. He also let me buy seconds for peanuts. He was a fine man who was generous to a fault. I am greatfull for being able to know him and pick his brain for striper info. I hope that he is fishing for bass in heaven he surley earned that reward.

I remember seeing Mr. Pond at many MSBA meetings and listening to him speak in the 60s + 70s. He truly was unselfish and untireless in his efforts towards the Striped Bass.
He is one of many I have in my thoughts when I fish, and will remain.
Rest in Peace Mr. Pond.
Condolences to his family and close friends

Bob started an organization called "Stripers Unlimited". I was a member until it folded in the 90s. I had the honor of having Charlie Soares introduce me to Bob at the Worcester Sportman Show a LONG time ago.
RIP Bob you were one of the great ones and we will not forget.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I went to the shop many many times (just 10 minutes from my house) and always hoped he'd be there to chat with. He had a knowledge of the Striper Fishery that few ever had or ever will.
Condolences to his Family.

"The Conscience of a Lure Maker"
You guys probably already know this but for those that don't Chapter 3 in Striper Wars is titled "The Conscience of a Lure Maker" was about Bob Pond, one of my favorite chapters. Powerful! It was a pleasure to read about such a great man. My condolences to his friends and family.

striper wars
I am in the middle of Striper Wars. I too was verry moved by the work that Bob Pond did I knew he founded stripers unlimited but I never knew how much he did to save the bass. After reading the book I wonder if we would have had bass to save if it wasent for bob ponds work and effort. Next season whe should all thank mr pond when we catch and hopefully release our bass.

This is truly sad and it’s just another hard hit to our fishing community! He will be sorely missed but his legacy will live! Rest in peace and my deepest condolences go out to the family and friends.

Although I knew about his efforts as a pioneer and an advocate I took my copy of Striper Wars to work last night and re-read the chapters documenting his efforts on behalf of the striped bass and the sport
His was an exemplary life
I had the chance to meet him with Habs and on a shelf over the workbench in my tackle room is an old eel squid with the Stripers Unlimited logo on it that Habs gave me
It reminded me that without Bob Pond's commitment we might likely not be doing what it is we are able to do now that is such a big part of our lives
Thank you, Mr Pond - rest easy, it was a life well-lived
My condolences to his family and friends
