ARC Dehooker
Who has used these and what do you think? Any other portable dehookers people like?
Thinking of maybe carrying a dehooker - not sure as with eels lately I've been using circles and just don't guthook fish anymore. Still considering keeping in bag.

Haven't used the Arc, John. I carry the long version of this. I needed something to get down deep and hurt the fish as little as possible. I was able to get a deep hooked fish off last year. I like this because it keeps a firm hold on the hook and I can "guide" it out of the mouth with ease.

I've often wondered the same thing... if you find a lightweight, easily-carried dehooker please let me know. I haven't found on yet.

Basspro has some, I have never used one. I think Zeno does, at least I have seen one in the pics in one of his books.

I have the ARC dehooker but I'm a boat guy so easy to carry. Haven't yet had reason to use.....deep, gorged hook.

I do carry one at all times but my has a j-hook. Its just a thin piece of wire takes almost no room on my belt. Its usually way back on my belt, almost on my back. It comes out few times a season, most of the time you don’t even know its there. I also occasionally use a different one with a squeeze grip

I make them, using a coat hanger. Hook at one end. Hand pull loop at the other.
As light weight as they come and easy to carry on belt or in bag.

I've got both the big game and the medium.... both work perfectly, they do take a little practice,... you dont even need to remove the fish from the water, I've used them on Sharks, cod, cusk and bass....

All truth passes through three stages.
First, it is ridiculed.
Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Took me about 5 min. to get out a deep hooked pencil last night. Guys on the other side of the river cheered when then finally saw the fish swim away. It took us longer to get out a friends sluggo. I don't think the 2nd fish made it. I have to get a de-hooker.
