metallic underwrap

AKA Christian's Dad. I'm a novice myself but I'm trying to convince him that I know what I'm doing.

He wrapped the ferrule with varigated green metallic nylon and coated with flex coat CP. The thread is not a true metallic but seems to be more of a blend with nylon. The thread is made by Rice. It turned almost black. I'm thinking that the dark blank is showing through. I'm also guessing that skipping the CP and just flex coating is going to do the same thing. Any suggestions?

PS. he also wants to use this thread as guide underwrap.

Thanks

I'd switch to another brand of thread,,,,metallic thread needs no cp.

BOAT fish do count.

where this is a combination of nylon & metallic simular to Guidbrod Trimar.
Rice uses Regular Nylon thread mixed with their metallic which needs CP.
Guidbrod uses NCP nylon mixed with their Metallic which will hold the color.
If you apply the finish to any area of this rice thread without CP it will darken.
