Anyone use a PLB?

I've often given thought to purchasing an EPIRB for the boat, but since I also fish by kayak and in other situations were it is feasible I'd want to send a distress signal, I'm now thinking more about a PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) unit. Anyone use a PLB? Thoughts? Recommendations?

I would think the likelyhood of needing to use it in a kayak would be higher than in a boat so if its a good idea for a boat , its a great idea for a kayak!
