Mid Season Howya Doin' Thread
Whatcha got??
Hows the action? Any trophies? Multiple feesh nights? Fancy new lure working for ya?
No spots needed...just something to get the juices flowing...
I've fished less this year than ever before....have had lots going on and just no drive...that hopefully will change as the Fall run will be starting soon...(right B.B.?)

Not exactly setting the world afire with my fishing, but I'm out there enough and life is better because of it..
Lucked into one good fish that sort of takes the pressure off for a while.

May through the end of June was phenomenal for me. One skunk and only two shorts. Most fish in the 20+ pound to more than a few in the 30+ pound range with two personal bests within 5 days.
July slowed quite a bit with a few more skunkings towards the end of the month. August has been a bust (one day into it).

I've had a lucky year so far. Three fish over 40", had days where I couldn't not catch fish! Twice I hooked fish through the back of tails on retrieves and landed them. My son got his first striper. I've also had terrible luck, deposited hundreds of dollars in plugs, lures and other assorted ammo in the canal. Smile one day, tears the next. Grateful for the opportunity to be out there trying! Look forward to seeing you at some point.

Been a tough year with real life stuff finally having to be dealt with. WORK. Lack of financial well being. Barely keepin my head above water. Fish once, maybe twice a week. So far worst comm season I've ever had.
Operation Live Well has to thus point been a sucess. I have had the same eels for over 2 weeks.
But on a good note, the times I have been fishin' have been pretty lucky/ productive. At same pace I was at this time last year, 6 fish 40#+. Only had 1 skunkin so far and that was last week's trip to Cutty. It is KILLIN me not being able to fish all the time. I have dreaded this for a long time.....God help me when/ if I have kids.........

its been ok. no big fish this year so far (only my 2nd season on the salt). Highlights would be a couple cod i caught and a ton of flounder in june. Shore fishing for bass out my way has been pretty weak lately. I did get some sea bass last week, they were pretty tasty. Im hoping to get a couple more shots at some bass. I hear talk of a fall run, I assume it is much smaller in terms of numbers of fish. is there still opportunities to catch bass from shore?

with the baby, I haven't been out in a few weeks, but prior to that, things were starting to get good as I figured out how to find/catch macs and live line them off the yak! hope they stick around long enough to be able to do this again before they move out.

I've been getting out more than the last few years, but still not enough. Had a pretty slow May, very good June and pretty slow July. To date, I've had more keeper size fish than the last couple of seasons, so I can't really complain. Mostly doing it from shore this year, as I only made one bass trip on the boat this year. Because of that, I've learned a lot about fishing the surf and even a bit about fishing the canal. I've even grown to like fishing the canal, other than the crowds. Looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully some great fishing.

really only fished may and june. had a bunch of teen size fish, one in the 20's, and one 30. was hoping for bigger fish, but I can't complain. Only fished eels once. Hopefully I'll get out more the next few months. Just don't seem to have the drive this year...

This season started very strong. Very good numbers and size was respectable. Got a 40 at the beginning of june, then since then its been on a downward spiral. I went 2 months without a skunk, that changed a few weeks back. Lost the fish that wakes me up with a cold sweat. I dont think i will be wetting a line for 3 weeks and the thought of it sucks.

I've made about 20 trips and have had the most consistent year in 6 or 7 years by boat in southern RI. Between 5-10 fish every trip except 1. Would like to see the average fish a little bigger, but overall a good first half. Hoping to score a big shore fish by the end of the week.

eh.... average for me. OK May, ok June, slow July. Looking forward to August and September.
Family and work have dominated so far, I still hold out hope for a tournament (45lb +) fish.

Didn't fish nearly as much as I would have liked to(but more than I should have), studying for the CFP exam which I took in July. However, the Lucky Horseshoe has returned, 4 over 35# from the surf, which for me is an outstanding season, and we are only 1/2 done.

Outside of 1 weekend I will never forget it's been a so so year. But I was reminded by a good friend that the one steller(by my standards) weekend I had this year was better than my entire season last year so I guess I have had a great season so far. It just raises the bar more for me though. I'm planning on hitting the 2nd half with a positive attitude and enjoy what I have.
