Olympus Stylus Touch - 6020

I know a few people have been looking at these (or similar). This model is on sale for $219 at Newegg with the promo code EMCYWYS58

I don't have this model so I can't say how tough it is, I have an older one. But mine is pretty tough.

Newegg.com - OLYMPUS Stylus Tough 6020 Green 14 MP 2.7" 230K HyperCrystal III LCD 5X Optical Zoom Waterproof Shockproof 28mm Wide Angle Digital Camera

Sounds like a doable camera. Is this a newer style? I also assume the wide angle lense is helpful when taking pictures of fish at your feet! Assuming they are "big".

I just bought one about a month ago, and so far I like it!
There are a few things I like to change on it, but mostly cause of my disabled fingers.
Its nice knowing that I don't have to worry about it getting wet on the boat.

This is a couple revisions newer than mine so I don't know if it is as tough as mine. My 770SW has been dropped, left in the bottom of s stream for minutes on end, dropped on rocks at Cutty, lost, fell off a bumper, you get the idea. Great little camera.

My only gripe is that there is no traditional view finder, you need to use the LCD.

Just got the greenie in the mail yesterday. Seems nice...found it for 212$...w/free shipping + NO TAX.

Not sure why the green ones come up cheaper than the other colors though. People not liking GREEN that much creating a surplus maybe???

The waterproof feature alone should make it worth the cost//? Not much of a manual though, got a lotta learning to do...

When is Tynan's next seminar on digi-pic taking using all these optimal features??? I'll bring the shine' and the boat-load of questions.

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

Tell us what you think once you've tried it out a bit.

And yes, T takes some awesome freikin shots with the Stylus. When he is on the Nikon, they are amazing.

I have the 8000 and its phenomenal. Goes swimming often. The macro setting is particularly good. I'll upload a few shots on Monday, can't recommend it enough

Had a stylus 770 for a few years and did ok. BUT, this year it it spent a little time in a pocket full of water and died.
Tech service told me I should have sent it in for a periodic seal redo to insure waterproofing. . . . . . HUH ???

Wants $ 115 to repair.

Hello, Sony.

May fortune favor the foolish....

Hello, Sony.
I think I'm going to go with that Sony we talked about. As much as it would pain me to do so, I'll probably get it from BestBuy if their Replacement Warranty is reasonable.

Here was some herring video my son and I took last spring with the 770SW (about 4 years old now and still kicking underwater after being dropped numerous times, forgotten in a wet surfgear for a week, you get the idea...):

our family digital is the Stylus TOUGH 6000~~~

mine went swimming in a back pack, and out to sea for several hours two Falls ago. thanks to Gary DeCosta who found it in working order and was able to find me from the pix in its memory. afterwards, it came back with a haze in the middle of the lens~~~~

still works like a champ after the fine people of Olympus serviced it for me, within the warranty limitations. well worth every penny, as it's been dropped a few tiimes lately.

be sure to get a good carrying case as this will help to protect the viewing screen that gets pocked over time, severe use, and is NOT covered under warranty. GREAT camera, and a much better price than what we dished out!!
