Thames River, CT

Has anybody fished the Thames River in Connectitcut, to exhaust those mid winter fishing blues. I heard That the stripers bank up in the Thames and winter there in about 20 to 25 feet of water. Can anybody tell me about this place and how good the fishing is?

I ated the Red Berries,,,

I've heard about that place, it's the Rose of New England I hear, fishing between the scrap yard and police station; the smell of melting plastic wafting through the air aaaahhhh.

I have fished there many times, not in a few years, but yes you can catch stripers there. There is a town dock near the police station that you can launch a boat from. You can fish off the dock there,,,but you won't be alone. Many people there. The fishing is good through x-mass, then slows down. Last time there i caught fish (stripers) in late feb. all about 20 to 24 inches. They say you need a conn. fresh water liscence,,,i never got one.
