Different Plugs
I was looking at the Plug Builders forum saw some great pics from the stuff everyone makes and it brought up some questions. I haven't used and dont own quite a few styles pictured. Maybe I can be educated here. I see the visible differences in angles and lips on a Nike for example compared to a darter but what is the difference? Is it the action it makes, fish preference or is it condition related? There are several different types that have me wondering (because I'm a plug whore) what types to try out Cowboys, Spooks and the like. Are some of these better for surf only vs. the canal? Which ones are better in current, diving or floating? All opinions are greatly appreciated. What types are prefferred?

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.

Good question, I use mostly needles at night and poppers or tins in the day light hours, I need to try something different from time to time

Take a ride over my cellar some day and we can look at all kinds of plugs. You can ask ? And I will do my best numbskull impression and try and answer. I can't type that much.

Thanks Paul, I may take you up on that sometime this dismal winter. I will be attending plug fest with my 10 year old sidekick.

any time. Yes plugfest is a great time, the best, but sometimes it can get a little hectic and over whelming so if you get sometime this miserable winter, and you seem to live pretty close, send me a PM and we can chew the fat in a more leisurely setting. But do make sure you come to to the fest. P.

I'm a plug whore too but I have been going to meetings. My goal every year is to have less plugs. I gave away about 30 plugs in the last month. And I only kept the ones that I love or catch. Keeping it simple will work and be less costly. Plugs are eye candy and can easily become an addiction. Find a good maker for the types of plugs you want to fish and buy a few different colors. The only pencils I have left to fish are Mikes red dot specials AWESOME. And as far as darters I'm hooked on N bars even though I haven't got large on them. Metal lips I like are 4290 and atom 40's. Smaller swimmers = redfins. Thats it for me plug wise. Oh yeah SS poppers with a dressed single hook tail in every color.
