I stopped reading at the statement "it's important to note that Omega does not target juvenile fish"...no agenda here.

Are you saying that it could be possible that Omega Seafood is helping fund the website SavingSeafood. Sounds like Big America to me. "Hey if we give you a little of this $$ will you say a few words about this. . "

I hear the worst of the pogy industry happens down in Texas and Louisiana.

I also hear that Bush has his hands in Omega Seafood and Omega Seafood has their hands in BP oil.

It is no hidden fact that Saving Seafood is a fishing industry support/lobby group. They are fully funded by the fishing industry, and those around it, and their complete agenda is that of this industry. It is not a secret, and they don't try to hide it...

It was basically started by the NB (whaling city) Auction, and is run by them.

It does look like this release was written by Omega.

That being said, I think that they do make some valid points, and back it up with hard data. i would love to see counter points with similar references...

No problem in Maryland...We ban the Anti-Christ otherwise known as Omega. Our pound nets do enough damage without the vacuum patrol. I did enjoy the spin on data that fails to answer the concern. For instance, "They are also essential prey for recreationally and economically important species such as striped bass." To which they answered about the percentages that menhaden constitutes only 8%. So what? We complain about crabs, bay anchovies, worms, and other food sources as well. Why should they be left off the list? If that 8% provides vital nutrients that the other 92% does not how can they say this is not valid. They really didn't present the right facts IMHO. I also like the "non-recreationally important" classification of croaker and spot.
