New to the site needs help on marsh fishing for stripers

A few times a year my family and I go fishing in Maine in salt water. most of the time it is in a marsh in saco ive seen some people haul some huge striped bass. Every time I have been to this same spot I get nothing. Ive been trying small fish like lures and large perch lures over to dead fish chunks.

Also what is best to fish with when im fishing off a dock in an inlet. Its really deep water, also I know huge fish are in their because my grandfather who was fishing a chunk of fish right beside me hooked into a nice bass what kind of set up should i have right now I have my sinkers at the end of my line then 4 or so feet up is my bait to try to keep my bait off the bottom am I doing this right.

I fish in fresh water all the time and have really good "luck" in catching small mouth bass and walleye all the time. But I just dont have the salt water fishing down. Thanks

Sand eels, worms, eels. Mackeral Chunks and best of all, Live Mackeral.

I would certainly try mid to large sized Sebile Magic Swimmers (pricey).

Pretty sure I know where you are and if I said anything else there would be a wanted poster...

Good luck. There is fish to be had, hit the beaches pre-dawn, find the birds. The fish in those docks are skiddish, I would try to feed them a sandworm on a circle hook or a small fly. When chunking the river I would use a fishfinder rig with a sliding swivel.
