Maybe Fall Migration Started

My favorite beach has been very slow since Irene.
This morning it finally turned on like it should be
this time of year.
I only managed 5 fish 24-28", alot of fun on the 7wt fly rod.
There were alot of bigger fish out further.
the bait in close was small 2-3", couldn't see what they were
but they weren't sand eels.

Used a white/chartruse deceiver tied on a 1/0.
Also a white Hollow fly tied on a #1.
They hit the Hollow a lot more aggressively.

Hope this is the beginning.......

Tight lines

Beginning!!! It's almost over.
It started the 3rd week of August. There have already been 2 maybe 3 pods of big fish move thru the Canal, past Point Jude and on to BI and Montauk.

Ya got another 2 weeks of good fishing then straglers

No boat, back in the suds.

I like straglers, they are usually big

Ya, me too Paul. One year Billy Nolan and I found "staglers" way West in late November.

No boat, back in the suds.

I'm praying for an unusually warm fall all the way up to a few days before Christmas ... that way, sometime in late November I am expecting to finally be on my own two feet ... but it may get pushed into Dec. ... so for me to capitalize on this ... keep that sun shining bright and warm for the next two months ...
