Montauk

Iam headed Montauk Sunday night .now iv been there once before in July and parked at the light house over night and had no problems. But I was wondering if I need a parking permit or not? As iam going to be arriving sort of late won't be able to get a pass .....will I have an issue? Is it just a ticket or towed?

put a note in the window saying you arrived late from New England and you will be buying a permit in the morning
It doesn't work all the time but it does work

If they check you will get a ticket. I think the fine $100, but don't hold me to that.

we used to have it good..what you've seen this weekend is how it used to be from 3rd week in September to about mid October in most years, sometimes longer
now if you get a week, its great
you got lucky

Holy S***!! Now you know why I go to the Block in mid-November. It may be slow fishing but it's not like fishing opening day of trout season.

WOW! Nighmare is a mild term for that nonsense.

No boat, back in the suds.

Yep. My personal favorite was when I thought a bug landed on my ear while fishing Jones reef this weekend and then i realized it was line, from the guy behind me who was casting over my head.

Thankfully 95% of that goes away after the sun goes down... which is when I do most of my fishing anyway.

Look at the bright side---lots of times, the boats get between you and the fish.

Yep ... you think the shoreline fishing is bad ... the boats are worse ... I've been fishing off there from a boat and seen 37'+ boat pull between a pod of blitzing fish and the guys on the rocks ... surprised he put his boat in jeopardy from the rocks ... the guys on the shore did not attack him either.

But I have been fighting fish and had boats run right over my line to squeeze me away from the blitzing fish ... it's one of the worst nightmares I have ever experienced in fishing crowds ...

The good thing is often the boats will chase the pods of blitzing fish down the coast, but typically some fish stay behind and pop up once everyone drives away.

Crazy stuff ... just have to pick your drifts so you can try to avoid the crowds while still giving plenty of room to the beach guys.

looks like a light day at cape point Hatteras during the spring drum run. Well, back when you could drive to the point during the run.

No, no, no. we’re 30… 30, three zero.
