I saw some of it last night. I love the fact that they have to use subtitles for guys who are speaking redneck.
Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio
Love the insight into that part of the country.Between the gator hunting show, the shrimping guys and the moonshiners I haven't seen a single character that would tolerate our northeast elitism. The same holds true for any of us being able to walk in their shoes.RIJimmy may want to turn his move to Texas into some type of handshake agreement for a reality tv contract.

WHat an ignorant new englander you are. Texas has more Fortune 500 companies than any other state. Its is larger than all of new england or the country of France. The 7 largest economy in the world. Less unemployment, incredible schools and colleges. Unlike MA where my state taxes go to fund some projects in the crap areas of MA, in TX my TOWN taxes go to fund my kids schools.
More and more people and companies are leaving new england, educated people with money. That means less and less taxes will be paid by the wealthy and those who stay will pick up the burden. RI - highest unemployment, highest suicide rate. Maybe Easton will be a boom town, selling crack or turning tricks for the new casinoin Foxboro may be a great opportunity for your kids to earn some high school $$$.
Tomorrow may rain so I'll follow the sun.
6 or 7 years ago I made a sales call in Fort Worth. Suit, tie the whole shebang. Sit down in front of this Texan fool and the first thing he says, literally, is: Are you really a Yankee? I said: What? So he says I never met a real live Yankee. Are you really a Yankee? I got up and left. Figured if he thought someone from the North was a freak, I didn't have a chance of closing any business so I didn't say a word. Just got up and walked out.
I really don't have a clue as to anything Texas. I do know the buck goes further down there and there are communities that are known for great schoolsystems. I have a friend that has businesses down there, another who is a tenured professor at U Texas. They relay a lot of stories similar to Paul's. Does that make me afraid of Texas? No,I would love to visit Austin for a couple days. Also great fishing down there in Texas. But to live there is not for me.I would prefer France. This all started because Jimmy got sensitive over what I am sure he knew was a joke.If that set you off Jim, I'm not sure you want to go to Texas.
areas have changed Paul. I've travelled all over tx and some areas are "old west" but many areas are extremely affluent and diverse. I spend 4 days down there last week and saw more asians, indians and other cultures. While some areas of texas you dont see any foreign cars, these areas where all mixed like up here. people are incredibly polite. Many people ( over 20) that I know who are from the east coast, relocated there and love it. Wish they moved sooner.
20 yrs ago look at south boston, now look at it! You cant judge areas without seeing them first. You'd never think you were in texas

Good point Jim. I'm just listing my experience. I'm sure Austin nd Plano are more cosmopolitain than the little town I live.
Im not being sensitive, just argumentative, as is my nature. you should know not to take me too seriously, im just passing time
For whats is worth, here is another story that is the opposite of Pauls. My wife and i while driving cross country were in Austin. I really like old country music and found a spot called "Ginnies Little Longhorn" I heard great things about. When we pulled up it was a dive little place and outside were jacked up pickups and a bunch of guys that looked 6 feet 5. Now my wife is a five foot Chinese woman. I hesitated and didnt think we should go in. I imagined them making some racist remark, me defending her and then getting pummelled to the ground by a bunch of rednecks. My wife insisted we go. When we got in, 2 guys, over 50, smiled and gave us their seats, people sitting in front of asked if we could see the stage and moved out of the way. The crowd was mixed from rednecks to college kids to old people, all were great. We met the band and hung out with them for beers. Amazing night and what made it great was the people. All top notch.
