How about the eleven year old kid at the firefighter's funeral

I can't believe no one had posted about eleven year old Jared Flanders from Worcester who rode his bike two miles to the funeral home to pay his rerspect to the family of the Worcester firefighter who died in the fire a week ago. Someone had to see this besides me. What a great kid with the exception of disobeying his parents about not leaving the house. The news reporter asked him who tied his tie and he said he did. It was a perfect windsor know. Reporter asked him how he new to tie it so well and he said his father bought him a book on how to do everything right and that was in it.

I dont know if its true or not but one reporter said something about his older brother being killed in Iraq five months ago. I only heard that once so dont quote me.

Truly heartwarming.

Yea, that is a great story. He felt the need to go and connected it to his older half-brother being passing away recently. They said his brother fought in Iraq but never said if he died there or back here. The kids father told him not to leave the house but he didn’t listen and went anyway. Tied his own tie and rode his bike 2 miles to the wake. The Worchester PD was able to get him in the back of a rescue vehicle to ride in the funeral procession the other day. It's always good to hear stories like this that result from tragedy

My buddy is a FF in Worcester and was talking with Jared. He said the kid is absolutely amazing. Smart, funny and wants to be a firefighter himself. He got to march with the Worcester guys, ride on Jon's scuba truck and tour is station. A real inspiration.

Thats the problem with our media, a story like this brings a tear to all our eyes, and a warm heart felt of patriotism, where as some abag with stealing million of dollars from people around the world is clearly more important, just like some gang banger getting shot...

This is one of the main reasons i dont watch the news in this country, short from the nazi's hermen gerbiles we have the best propaganda administration in the world.

Although I didn't see him I heard about his story. That was an amazing funeral. To see over 6 thousand firefighters march was something to see. We go to too many of these things.

Sounds like the book his Dad gave him may have been a military manual. The kid reads like he comes from a military family.
My Dad was a retired 1st Class lifer from the Navy. We had in our room:
2 beds
1 Radio
1 overhead lamp
1 Dresser
He would inspect out room at 6:30 a.m. look under the beds, check to see if the clothes were folded to regulation specs, white glove the sills to the windows and bounce a quarter off the beds and kick the #^&#^&#^&#^& out of you if everything wasn't right. He died when I was 17. At his funeral there wasn't a wet eye.
