MY FRIEND IS GETTING FRUSTRATED CASTING HIS REEL .THE BAIL CLOSES WHEN HE TRIES TO PUSH IT HARD. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S HIM OR THE REEL. IS IT POSSIBLE TO CONVERT TO BAILESS. IF IT IS ARE THERE ANY PLACES NEAR THE CAPE THAT COULD DO THIS THANX EVERYONE

If the bail is in position all the way against the handle when he casts the bail will not close. He can do it by hand or press that nifty little button on the front of the reel. If it still closes it's faulty but I highly doubt it.

Westport just soved the proble. You need to make sure the bail is against the handle. Make it a habit before every cast. Problem solved.

In my experience,, with that particular model, it's not a "hard stop" when rested against the handle. It doesn't take much for it to slip by the handle if you press too hard (which would lead it to close shut). Your friends gotta be careful is all.

Fortunately, for decades now... I do this with all my reels, as well as close the bail by hand as well. It's so much healthier for the reel.
Tell your buddy, once he gets used to it, he won't even think about it anymore...and his reels will love him for it.

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots
