This is Disturbing

I work at a very public place here on Cape Cod, and for the last 3 Sat nite Sunday morning's (I work GY) Some one has droped off cleaned Striped Bass in the lot!! Now I not talking about 1 or 2 fish I mean 3 weeks ago there were 5 in a bag all smelley. Then last week they droped off 18 !! Bass from 24" to 30" all cleaned and not a very good job of it. Real fast cleaning like a party boat would do. This time they droped them rt on the ground with a bag of inners next to it. What a ^&*( Mess!! Now again last night I found yet another 10 all between 23" and 28"!! Well I will be watching next week real hard for who ever is responsable and I will call the police with a plate # and anything else I can find out.
Theses fish were not old. I would say they are just about 4 to 6 hours old. They are still wet and blood running, Gray color. The limt is28" 2 fish per person and there is more the 2 and they are not 28's!!

macojoe,
send an email to these folks marine.fish@state.ma.us
I got this address at the bottom of the states regulations page in the fisheries section. At least it'll be documented and you know you did your part.

On top of being morons for keeping illegal sized fish and more than their limit, what kind of morons clean 18 of them, and leave the fillets behind...??? I just don't understand people. And I can't stand people who take fish under 28 inches. That really pisses me off. People just need to help keep this sport alive!!! Not destroy it.

It's ironic this topic came up. It is indeed unfortunate, but repeat offenders will be caught eventually. I went to a produce place in NJ this weekend and my 7 year old points out some striped bass in the seafood section. These things were only about 15 inches long if that. I don't know if they can get shorts that are farm raised or some other way, so I asked the guy if they didn't have to go by the state regulations for keeping bass. He conveniently started gesturing and talking in another language when he had just previously been speaking pretty fluent English. So after reading MJ's thread, I'm doing a little checking and calling, too.

Jimbo- You should be carefull in making quick judgement. Yes there are some people catching and keeping undersized stripers. It happens every day.

Also some States such as Florida allow the catching of smaller stripers to be sold mostly year round. And I'm sure that the State keeps tabs on them fish stores. Stores have to be licenced to sell stripers and proof of origin.

Was eating in Boston this past winter and the restaurant had stripers on the menu. Knowing the law I ask the waiter and he imediately went to ask and came back and explained that they came from Florida.
