Anyone else running late this year?
The weekend's forecast is only going to make it easier on me for not being in full swing.... I just pulled the still covered boat from the side of the house to out front on the street. Figured with the rain coming, I better get it out before the ground gets saturated. Not much to do. Paint the bottom, change out throttle cables, charge batteries, wax and splash.
I went codfishing once, and hit the surf twice. But just not feeling it this year... Anyone else not pressing for the early fish?

I know how you feel. Went and threw a bunch of stuff at the canal twice. Going to fish 3 or 4 out of the next seven days with good friends, but I'm just not amped up. Maybe it's the loss of access in a bunch of my usual haunts, maybe I'm just tired of the game. Staying home with the wife on weekends is getting more and more inviting.

Could be our career choices, Stewie? Surviving these winters without work, and then getting slammed in May is getting really trying.....

Canal is slow. I know there have been reports of fish and I have been getting my share but the biggest so for is 22# and almost everything else has been rats.
Fished from 3 to 5:30 AM this morning in a monsoon rain. Tide just turned, full moon, overcast and rain. 3, 25" rats to show for almost 3 hours.

Why don't we just blame it on John Redmond. That way we'll all feel better about it.

I know the last year was a tough one for me, and this year has it's share of distractions. Most of last season I stayed local, just wasn't feeling the drive! I too wanna spend the time with my family! I know this feels good, the quality time with the wife and son!

Running late seems to have become a way of life for me, too occupied to be away for more than a few hours. Been flyfishing for trout because I can steal an hour in the evenings behind my house.
Sigh.
I miss the surf.

i was all pumped for 2013 but being the accident prone idiot that i am
and have been my entire life....
i dropped a fireplace brick right on top of my already injured bare foot
and pissed it off big time...the swelling is finally going down and i have
to put lidoderm patches on it to kill the pain... hence why i am awake
@ 4am ....so i am off to a very SLOW start this year

This week I've caught fish on 3 nights. 5 total schoolies which is lame. I've just been hitting the beach in my neighborhood and havent been motivated to make a trip anywhere. Googans out on the jetty last night. One guy who claimed he was from Sandwich ran 100 yards down the jetty to where I was to show me his 20" fish and ask me what the limit was!!

Been out 2 times, with nothing but blues to show for it. Emily is keeping us busy with the every 2 hr feedings and diaper changes. But on the plus side I have finished more plugs this spring then ever before.

I Put the boat in a week ago yesterday.... about a week latter than usual.. the cooler weather IMHO, has people going about "thier buisness" with less desperation...
I never really crank it up 'till June anyway...and only fish a few days a week and on week ends in May, so I'm pretty much on schedule...

Living life to fish 6-7 months a year sucks.

Nice to see I'm not alone. I've had the boat ready for 3 weeks and I haven't even dug out my reels after getting them back from Shimano, just don't have the enthusiasm I've had in years past. I was hoping to hit Buzz Bay Sunday, but after looking at a really sloppy crappy marine forecast, I'm going to wait unit Tuesday I think. Hope the sea bass are in and hungry, Goose want to come up?

Put me in the late column.... getting boat ready, moving and all the crap that goes along with it. I'm a spent cartridge. Hope to start fishing the bay Sunday though. We'll see...

I've been out about a dozen times so far, mostly to try the lures i did this winter and to kind of reacquaint myself with some of my old haunts, and learn some new ones. Beverly and Salem have fish busting every time I'm there, but they seem tuned in on the herring fry. I did manage my first of the year....an impressively fiesty 9"! lol I did glimpse quite a few big boys in the 30-40" range, but they just weren't interested in what I had to offer.

to make matters worse, I had to get a steady stream of pics from my buddy who fished PI the other day, 17 in all. 30-36" range. Just lit the fire for me.
