Thanks for the lasting image buddy.
Last week along a fairly remote stretch of the Narragansett shoreline, I bumped into a guy on a towel, shorts down, fully playing with himself. Just sitting on rock, looking out at Rhode Island Sound. It was noontime or so on Saturday. And all I was hoping to do was go for a snorkel and spear a couple of blackfish.
WTF

What kind of spear do you use? I have been wanting to try that for a long time...

Jim it is a blast. I love it. Even a guy masturbating on the rocks wont deter me. It's a Mares speargun, 34" Great for blackfish and mid-sized stripers.

Thanks Goose.
I have never been spearfishing in New England (only once in Key West, with scuba gear, when I was surrounded by fish in 85 degree water with 60 feet of visibility, which is not exactly challenging spearfishing).
I have been scuba diving, and I was a lifeguard/swim instructor in college so I'm a decent swimmer. I always thought I'd like spearfishing, but never had any idea where to start. Maybe next year.

It's all freediving. No tanks. Minimal gear required. Mask, fins, suit, flag, stringer, knife. I'm in from 10 to 25 feet of water, right on the shoreline.

I gathered it was mostly, if not all, freediving (although I did see a guy in scuba gear once, come out of the water at Watch Hill Light, with 2 big keeper stripers, this guy says he uses tanks all the time and still kills fish).
You don't have to go deeper than 25 feet? That's one of the things that gives me pause, as I'm not going to push my luck freediving down 40+ feet and trying to hold my breath longer than I should. I love fresh striper, flounder, and tautog, but it ain't worth killing myself over.
I do some camping every year in Narragansett, I always thought it would be fun to try at the East Wall, which is very close to where I camp.
I may PM you at some point to get some tips on where to start. You don't use a boat or kayak?

Yeah that's nothing! One time I was taking a long walk to a remote beach at the end of MA middle of the night I start the hike head lamp on backpack with waders Etc in it. Begin my trek across a mile plus long breakwater. I get about halfway across and there is not only one guy with his shorts down but two having a blast with each other. Scared the ...... Out of them and me! Horrible! Absolutely horrible! Especially for such a clean living guy like myself.

2 Stories from SoCo
One night in November my old fishing partner in the 90s Gil Guillitone and I are going to fish the West end of Matunck State Beach over at a place we called the rock pile. Now it's November and it's FREEZING!
Long story short we get half way to the rock pile and there is this guy and girl in the middle of the beach and the girl is doing what the wind does.....the guy. Gil was in his 70s at the time and a real old fashioned Italian. He couldn't believe his eyes so he shines his light on the couple. Didn't stop her for a second.
a
Another episode was when Gil and I were walking to the mouth of Narrow River and this stunning red head comes out of the surf completely naked. Just smiled and struck up a conversation. It was one of the only times I saw Gil speechless!!!

So bottom line is Gil was a babe magnet?
I must lead a boring life as the "beautiful" people avoid me like the check at a diner.

I've been fishing the outer cape since 1978.
Mostly around Provincetown.
My poor eyes have seen things they never ever should have.
The retina's are permanently damaged.
( On the other hand I was a private bartender for a swingers club just south of Boston for 15 years. Now those are some good campfire stories. )

OK, I'll play: (1) Was fishing off buddy's boat a few years back and coming around Long Point in P-Town, middle of a beautiful Saturday afternoon, guy doing the same thing. Not a care in the freakin' world. (2) Walking out to mouth of Pamet River in Truro for a Sunrise Session and here comes this beautiful girl naked just walking down the beach, of course I stopped to talk to her.

You know stories about naked redheads coming out of the surf are entertaining but stories about guys alone beating their meat or stories about anybody taking a dump just don't have the same zing .

A few years ago a buddy asked me to go with him boat fishing the back. I kept directing him in between the bars and get tight to the beach. We slayed them.
Later at a cookout he's telling people about my 6th sense and ability to read the water to put us on fish.
When asked what my secret was I said " Every time I saw a naked girl on the beach I had Jim pull the boat in close to shore ".
I like naked girls.
