safety first

Just want to toss it out there and remind you all to not get complacent on the common areas that you normally haunt.
Death is not bias And is more than willing to take you.
Be aware of your surrounding's and most importantly your footing for hook sets.
But most of all have fun!

Best of luck out there!

Yes,not me but a real close Buddy of mine lost footing just after the hook set and within only a few seconds he was up to his shoulders and then up to his ears and then showing signs of heading down current....

I waded out up to my tits with out going in my self, and reached out the butt end of my pole, after several attempts he finally latched onto it,I thought great were out of the woods.
No! I forgot I switched up poles and the one I handed him was a two peice
Luckily my drag was nailed down so I wrapped the braid around my hand and told him not to panic and stay focused, all I could do was talk him through it and keep the line taunt.I knew if I tried to pull him in the drag would give.
He paddled his way in with my pole.
when he came out of the water he still had his pole in hand,I thought to my self REALLY!?!?! WTF you ass!
So he held his pole up and his drag was still screaming
Nice fish close to 40#

This is the crunch time of year when we don't think about safety and focus to much on catching that Monstah.

Since tragedy was avoided , its a much better story to tell over the years ahead that he hung on to his pole and landed the 40 pounder!

Remember this story when the one piece vs. two piece argument starts again.
