I also have a 704Z that has a Penn bail-less conversion kit installed. I'll take a couple of photos and post later. Cosmetically it looks used. Mechanically ready to fish.
$150 for the rod. $60 for the reel. $195 for combo. Picked up in Charlestown or nearby.

I am open to a trade for a custom Lami GSB 1201M in excellent shape only ... spinning.
Also looking for an Abu Chrome Rocket (flat handle, early model
and an Abu 7000CL Big Game, black early model only ... both would have to be in excellent plus to new with boxes.
These may be trade options. Arra 1205 conventional possible too.

Damn Kevin. I just sold a black Big Game that had been magged by Ryan White. You would have loved it.

No boat, back in the suds.

You are right... but, the key words here are "sold" and "would have"...

Not sure why this rod is still here. I know it was cut from the butt, but Don knew what he was doing and it's well built. Just more rod than I need and I have another rod for the canal and heavy stuff. Anyway, thanks Paul... hope all is well. Good here.

Kevin, good to here that you and the family are well. Got to fish together before we're both too old.

No boat, back in the suds.

I'd buy that rod in a second if I thought I'd get good use out of it. My old 1208 I cut back 6" which was a bit too much, 3" sounds perfect.

Family is good and keeping me busy... good busy though. So I have not hit the beaches as much as other years... but more lately.

Meanwhile... man someone must want this enough to trade for it or buy it. If I didn't have duplicates it would not be up for sale.

Might also take an excellent Newell P220-F, P229-F. Open to suggestions.

From MikeP back in 2005;

All Star GSW 1208 rod, Newell P-220F or Penn 525 Mag reel, 50# Power Pro:

This is a very sweet, and light, all-around conventional set-up. Don't be fooled by the light weight, this rod has tons of balls. Good for big plugs and jigs to 4 oz, and can be pushed to 5 in a pinch. Also good for light chunking duty. The Batson SU 1208 blank is virtually identical. With either the Newell or the 525 Mag, you will cast those 6" Strom shads very far with minimal effort. The All Star and Batson versions of these blanks are priced very reasonably, in the $125 range, amking them a great value. I've used this rod for Canal jigging, and also have tossed pencil poppers at breaking fish. Casts far with minimal effort. If you want to step up in price range, the Lami Ron Arra XRA 1205 would work for the same purposes.

I just had a new/old stock blank wrapped this June, and love it. Also have an AllStar 1265-2, also known as the Spanish Buster on the Outter Banks.. Company is out of business, so I am very happy to have these.

My feelings exactly, but no matter. It's back in the rack. Don wraps a nice "stealth" rod too. If anyone sees this thread, they can always find me. Maybe I'll be inspired to go to the canal with it.
