Andersen 400 is great choice. I install more of these than all others combined. Marvin is also good, even excellent. Lower price point is Silverline, which is owned by Andersen. Then there is Harvey.Stay away from Pella.
Do a search as I know we've had a thread or two on this before. I think Saltheart went through this research. Specialist did a lot of replacements in his place a few years ago.

Man, 10 years or so ago I went with the best vinyl replacements I could find and regret the entire thing...what a joke. We thought we were going to be selling in a few years and I figured they'd still look good.

At least I installed them myself so the entire job was cheap. You get what you pay for...

We installed 8 Anderson 400 windows last summer... so far we love them and plan to do the rest of the house ASAP

I have installed 7 400's so far. As I continue around to the others side I am going to keep putting them in. I like them a lot and they are reasonably priced.

I ended up putting replacements in my Bay Window instead of doing the complete replace. Contractor who has done nice work for me in the past insisted the frame was solid as a rock so just replacement of the single pain rollouts with double pain double hung in the existing sound Bay Window frame was the way to go. I used Anderson. I have 3 more coming for the completion of the entire front of the house so they will all look the same. they are on sale now. I got 3 double hungs with full screens about 36X53 for $475 total. I will install the single windows myself but did have the contractor do the big Bay Window.

The front of the house will be all Anderson. I have a big 8 foot Anderson sliding door and 2-- 4 foot Anderson sliding windows. I chose Pella's for the side of the house where there is no soffit just cause they seemed to look better at that particular location than the Andersons. Overall , I have no complaints about either the Andersons or the Pella's. Some of the Andersons are 20-25 years old now and sill like new. The Pella's seems to be somewhat more money and except for the look in one location on the side I could not see why the price was justified to use them everywhere.

Last detail is that everything on the house I used new construction windows , not replacements because a lot were new constructions and some do to a need to replace some rot on sills and in lower corners , etc but along the front, I guess do to western exposure, and the soffits above them there were no rot issues whatsoever so I went replacement.

About 5 yrs ago I had about 5 Marvin "Integrity" line installed. This is a good window for the money. Not the best you can buy but quality the won't break the bank. Seems with windows if you want top top end they aren't just another 30% there like another 300%.

I really have to do the rest of the windows before Marvin stops making that line and the rest don't match.

Note: Buy the new boat before the windows

the features they offer are a big consideration
especially when used on a second story application
where you want the lock tab /fold inward
for cleaning rather than using a ladder outside.

We've gone with Marvins over the last few years-4 double hung-small glider from kitchen to porch-1 Bay-1picture. If we were to replace others we would stick with them. They are pretty beefy and my wife liked the fact that they were available with SDL-simulated divided light. The grid is between the panes with no snap in grill. Others may have this feature now but when we bought Marvin was the only one. The one thing that I hope they have improved on is the pivot points for tilting the windows-ours are plastic -seems like there could be an upgrade there but since we don't wash our windows not that big a deal.
