Think it over.

With all the excitment of catching a striper or a mulitple of stripers, I would ask everyone to think can I eat all this fish or will I. Do I have a place to put this in the freezer or do I want to clean all this at the dock. I was sickened today by what I saw at the Marina. One of the regulars went out last week and slayed them. 8 very big fish 15-35 lbs. I went over to take a look and he asked if I wanted any filets. I had a few so I said no. He asked just about everyone along the dock if they wanted some. No takers. I was watching him filet the fish and the filtes were gettign smaller and smaller as he worked through the fish. Sure enough when I return a few days later, there on the bottom was the fillet fish and 3 or 4 fillets. That just plain sucks. This guy is not a bad guy or anything he just got carried away. So the lesson here is to just take what you eat, take pictures and tag the ones that you do not need. You can get the tags from Risaa.

That's 100% right.... Nothing wrong with taking what you & your family will eat and maybe some for one or two others but no need to feed the neighborhood or let it go to waste...

I had a very hard 2 minutes of deep thought when I landed my first ever keeper a few weeks ago.

I knew I would have no time to properly clean and preserve it.
I knew I had no room to store it whole.

It was raining and my camera was in the truck so I couldn't take a picture and I didn't want to leave it beached while I ran for it.

So, I patted it on it's hed and sent it on it's way.

I have not caught anything since.

I know I did the right thing for myself
However, the next keeper is gonna come home with me and the whole family will eat of it.

What remains will become chum, stew, or plant food.

On FathersDay I drove through cohaset and stopped next to atlantica. It smelled like lobster bait. I walked over to the cleaning sttion and looking down saw at least a half-dozen carcases.

two had sorry attempts at fillets taken from them.
the others were pretty well cut down.

However, low tide in that area exposes the mud AND those carcases. Maybe folks should think to bring some rocks and hemp rope or make friends with a lobsterman to see if they want the carcasses as bait.

Something must change or stations like in cohaset will be shut down by the "well to do" and over zealous Enviro-mental-ists.
If it were my restaurant I would be opposed to it.

-sigh.
