Anyone else think NOAA is full of @#$%$%

This is what they said for this morning:

ANZ236-090330-
NARRAGANSETT BAY-
1030 AM EDT SAT AUG 8 2015

THIS AFTERNOON
NE WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. WAVES 1 TO 2 FT.

Had 20 kts at my back all the way to Gould Island. Motor off pulling tube and worm and I'm doing 2 kts. They weren't even close. Back in by 6:30 AM

No boat, back in the suds.

YUP, few weeks back forecast for Buzz Bay winds NE5-10, waves <1ft. Actual winds 20-25+ with waves 3-5ft. O.D. and I were hiding behind Nashon but eventually had to get back across to Fairhaven through this sh*t!

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

As someone whose job requires me to be on the water all week, I can tell you that without question they're full of baloney.

I remember the time they called 5-10 Vineyard Sound and as we left the east end of Quicks Hole there was suddenly 6' of air under the boat.

Turned around real fast. My spine still hurting from that.

Was this a surprise? Come on Paul you should know better by now

They've been way off for a long long time.

There's got to be better apps/sites that are more accurate

I know a few of the surf apps I use for my shore spots are pretty accurate.

Fortunately, I took a short ride to the Pt. Judith lighthouse to assess the weather before launching. With the NE wind I suppose I could have hugged the southern shoreline.

Yesterday morning/early afternoon wasn't bad at all in BB. The sound was beautiful. Ride back it picked up but still not too lumpy.

They often get it wrong out of the east. When it blows east it is 2X worse then SW for the same wind speed. ie 10E = 20SW When it blows east I try and stay in unless I have to be out in it.

Their forecasts have been horrible all season. Ruined yet another planned family outing yesterday afternoon when we returned to port.

Wunderground is the most accurate, IMO. I rely heavily on the hour by hour graph and it's usually spot on.
