Long term /Wednesday through Monday/...
highlights...

Wednesday into Thursday night...

* strong...persistent northeast winds and high astronomical tides
* coastal flooding and strong wind gusts possible
* potential for heavy rain and flooding impacts

Friday through Monday...

* continuation of persistent northeast winds for a time
* possible renewed heavy rain threat Friday-Saturday

Life hasn't allowed me to fish much lately, but recent developments have maybe opened a little window for some fall outings to at least maintain some level of sanity...

Been doing what is usually a late winter activity, untangling gear and such, and now I see the above forecast. Fortunately, I have the day off tomorrow, so I think I will get in at least a little time to poke around in advance of the weather. Though its a topic that always comes up this time of year, I was just interested in hearing (again) others' experiences, theories, predictions, advice etc. with regards to the forecast above, the time we have left, lack of recent rain, the apparent record amounts of bait around, etc.

One of the best scenarios for downtown Boston bass. Honkin outgoing tides against huge incoming swells.
If you can survive the trip out, you will surely be rewarded.

Tropical depression 11 now Tropical storm Joaquin, headed from Western Atlantic towards East coast of US. Boston could see between 5-8" of rain from Wed through Sunday. Let's hope this storm doesn't blow up into something bigger......

At least a 50% chance that it'll be a cat 1 hurricane by the time it's off NJ. The models have it tracking right up the coast ala Sandy.

We needed a good NE blow, but this might be a little much. HUGE surf that's going build for the next week, lots of rain. Water is already weeded up along most of the coast and we're not even a day into this pattern.

That being said, some places should be stacked with fish in the next 2 days/nights. If you have an opportunity to fish today/tonight, I would definitely take advantage of it before this storm shuts things down for a bit.

As far the bait is concerned, so there's so much of it this year that I don't think it's going to matter. We still have at least 3 big moon phases to look forward to where bait will still be dumping out bays and estuaries. My buddy made a good point last night that this storm will push out all the bait that's tight against rocks. I think that could end up being a good thing once things settle down.

Now, if we get a series of line storms like we did a few years back, then I will be really concerned. Those storms put an end to that season. Good luck!

Maybe you guys to the south will have a chance after things settle down after this blow, but up on the north shore we are lucky to have fish into the first few weeks of October over the past couple of years, so this could very well shut it down for the season. I hope I'm wrong

I agree. Going to be spotty at best north of Boston after this. Might not get enough good wind to clear up the mess of weeds this will make in time.

The water is already dirty and weeded up. Hauled out during lunch today. Plan is to go back in after the blow sometime next week.

The European Models have it going out to sea- but you know those models have hair under their arms.

Luckily, they are generally correct, even if things get a bit hairy.

No, no, no. we’re 30… 30, three zero.

Only one model has it going out to sea but most in the know think that it will. Let's hope so.
