To much wind for the boat as of late but hope to go out Mon. I want to go to the race this coming thur or fri and try that surf rod that has been hanging in the basement for the last 4 years. Will have to see how the weather is?? I got my sticker and have not been up there since. But now that I am home from camping I will have more of a chance to get over there. I hope.

Well, it was a little deer. After I slowed down and it crossed the road with momma it shot right back headfirst into my wheel. No damage to the truck, cop had to put the deer out of its misery...

boston harbor
I had a pretty fun morning on Saturday fishing the harbor islands. I was able to get some better herring this week and pretty quickly too. I've been trying a strategy of casting plastic to the rocks while livelining a herring as close to the structure as possible. Seemed like a great idea, but in practice, the bait doesn't stay in there very long.
I spent some more time letting the bait work in good structure and putting down my lure. I ended up with 5 fish, from 32-34"... 2 on plastic, 3 on herring. I had a couple other runs on the bait and had a few schoolies follow my lure... which has been happening alot over the past couple weeks. Also had a few fish chase my herring up top, but not take it. So, there were quite a few fish around and I had action of some sort for a couple hours.
I saw the biggest fish I've ever seen period. I thought it was a shark at first, but it was a huge bass. Judging from the fish I caught and the way they looked in the water, it had to be close to 50"... I threw a cast in front of it, but it was pretty close to the boat and probably was spooked.
One of these weekends, I'm gonna get a really good one... but had a really fun morning.

I managed to wet the line a little this weekend.....
Friday night, I was into trophy mung on just about every cast on the outer beaches. It was sweet.
Saturday morning, went out in the boat. It was a little too snotty to do the run we intended, so we decided to go for some fluke instead. Thirty seconds into the first drift, I hook into something big, and my drag starts singing. A couple minutes later, I've got the biggest damn fluke any of us had ever seen to the surface. I could not believe it was even a fluke. Of course, as my buddy goes to net it, it thrashes, and back down it goes without my hook in its mouth. We ended up getting close to our limit with the biggest (landed) going about five pounds on the Boga, but the one I dropped was AT LEAST double the size as that one. We estimated the fluke to be 12+, and let me say that I am now on a mission. Stripers are #2 in my book for the moment.
