Nebe, Surf Hog Rigging Question
Eben, if I remember correctly you were the original guy from surf hogs
I picked up a bunch of bags (15 of them and 6 packs of the pleasure sticks)
was wondering what the best way was to rig the surf hogs?
was thinking a joebaggs jig head or something along those lines, or maybe one of those owner beast hooks, weighted or unweighted, or the pt jude wobble heads
any tips or tricks?
some of them seem more limber than others.
Thanks and happy holidays

Holy cow. Where did you find those!??!
The original surfhog eel is best rigged like a McKenna style rigged sluggo and worked like a spook.
The pleasure sticks work great the same way or on a big owner hook like you mentioned. A little solder wrapped around the curve of the hook gives it a little more weight.
The pleasure sticks are killer !
I'm feeling nostalgic now

I still have a pile of the 12" Eels. I really loved the original Surfhogs for spring. Long gone though.

The ribs in the pleasure sticks would really vibrate a lot under water. I'm certain that they would call the bass in like a fishing lure with a rattle.

It makes me really happy to hear that you guys did well with them ! Sometimes I wonder if I should have kept the molds and kept on pouring but once you get burned by 500 degree molten plastic you want nothing to do with it ever again

I can literally stick my finger into hot glass and come out ok. (Done it many times) If I did that with plastic I'd probably end up in the ER

I have a ton of 13" Mega Jerks in stock if guys need long plastic with plenty of action, the segmentation's I designed into these give the bait a lot of flexibility, so it doesn't take much movement on your part to make these move. I black, smoke, bubblegum, some really cool dual color baits, will price right to move some.

You could pop a mold and pour some for your own use... Pretty easy to do in small batches. Tons of info out there on it.

I was trying to be a good guy about it, someone purchased all the molds from eben so I figured I would try to purchase them from him, I was thinking if I had got the molds I could pour what I need and then maybe sell a few, nothing really like them available on the market and might be nice to sell a few of something to put a few extra bucks in my pocket

would someone on here be able to post a picture of the Pleasure Stix? I just made another 3 POP molds over the weekend and curious what these legacy baits look like...google image search appears to come up empty, but I'm also not quite sure what to look for.
Thanks in advance!

When I designed it, I envisioned a 3 ounce gum drop jig head followed by a series of round segmented spheres that would look like "anal beads".
Hence the name "pleasure stick.
It drive fish crazy!

I have to dig, but i am pretty sure i have some pleasure sticks in my pile. Maybe i can do a silicone mold and pour some. Imagine it would have to be a 2 part.

I wouldn't do that. what I would do is clone it out of wood first. That is how I made the original.
Make a good wood clone that has a 3 inch sprew on the head and seal it with epoxy so it is glossy and then make a mold of it. Then make 3 to 6 solid resin blanks and then make a nice 2 part mold that is keyed so it will align properly.

Found one. Old, dirty, and crooked.
Nebe what you suggest sounds complicated for a layperson as am I. Though maybe bobber can spin me one on the lathe.
I looked up the definition of sprew and what I read on urban dictionary disgusted and confused me. A three inch sprew on the head of a pleasure stick? Sprew seems it would be measured in tablespoons, milliliters, maybe cups (gag). Inches of sprew on the head doesn't really make sense. 3 dribbles of sprew? Also came across sprue. That might be what you referred to.

Ha!
The sprew serves two purposes. A pouring cup and also a reservoir tip to account for shrinkage after you fill the cavity and things cool down.

I am out of surfhogs, but if you look at the sprew on the head of the pleasurestick under a microscope, there are millions of little surfhogs swimming around in it.
