Anyone that wants to build rods.

For those of you that might be interested in learning how to build your own fishing rods, I’m going to start a series of posts/pictures on my Fishing Page to go into it in more detail. I thought about doing it on this board, but I've got interest from a few guys from several boards and I want to do it just once...lol. Several have read my article on the subject and after answering a lot of questions, I figured I might as well put those emails to good use.

I know there are those that are already building their own rods, some being custom rod builders and your input would be welcome. This will be geared for the beginner and it will be a series of posts with pictures to walk you through building your first fishing rod. This will also allow you to do it on a low budget, which is how I started. I recently finished building a spinning and conventional rod and made it a point to take about 50 digital pictures as I went along. These pictures should be very helpful to anyone who’s been thinking about taking the plunge and to any beginning rod builder.

I think most beginning rod builders might also benefit from this and it will also give people a chance to exchange some ideas as we go. I’ve got the pictures formatted and will start putting together the initial posts on selecting a blank, getting started with the list of tools needed etc, but check in regularly as I’m not on any schedule. I would guess the first post should go up sometime next week.

If you are interested, please stop by at http://www.rgsiroisco.com/fishingpage.htm and click the link to the message board. I will clearly mark the message threads as Rod Building, so you shouldn’t have any problems finding them.

Thanks and tight lines.

ps: Mike and others that might be doing this commercially, hope you can stop by and offer any additional advice.

Nice article GS! I got a decent look at it and I like it... Just to complicate things, Mike @ CapeCodTackle has also written one that I'll be putting up soon that has some nice info too. Tons of photos to boot (just waiting for the last one)... My rod building info (won't qualify as an "Article") will be on some tight budget and beginner info too. Just basic and functional for starting out...

BTW - the weather keeps switching back from snow to rain but mostly rain... No ice and some REAL NICE weather for your Sunday trip ;D - Good Luck

I got a jump start on this today and put the first couple posts and associated pictures up. I will add to it as time permits, until I've gone through all the steps, tight lines.
