Macs Around Rockport

Hi Guys,
Anybody having luck finding macs around Rockport? I always end up picking up pollack for live lining. They're not the most successful baits for me.

Thanks,
Rick

you have to slow troll the sabiki rigs untill you find them. They are out in ~100'~
don't just blind drift hoping they will swim under the boat (unless you are chumming)

Whatever that island is called with the lighthouse on the east most edge, thacher I think, says Aband lt on my chart, you can pretty much always find the macks just off the northern side of that in the lobster pots, looking at the lighthouse, in 30 ft of water or so - one of those spots that works at false dawn, at noon, and at dusk...

With that said I haven't had a reason to go in there yet this year because the macks are everywhere - in the morning just running to where I'm going I see them on the surface, I pull up and fill the well. Normally, when bait is not so ridiculously available, I'm stopping there if running from the merrimack to southern jeff's or the bank.

I bet just trying to get there you are going to find the macks along the southern edge of cape ann.

Jon

There's a limit on these?

what is called the gap between straitsmouth island and the main land is a green bell bouy on the rockport outer harbor side
, a good place to start....if not there bell bouy at north end of outer breakwater, head towards halibut pt.....out in front of thatchers 80 ft. of water or more.....

yes always get them on the troll hardly ever just jigging. Although - Rick, I've done quite well with pollack in the area, give them a little more time!
