What is it ? Never caught one before ?
I have never caught one of these before. It came up on a hi-low rig along with a BSB. Nice looking fish....
At first I thought it was a Pollock but then no....Pollock don't have that yellowish horizontal line....
Filleted it and it's meat resembled the texture of a Blue
Update: 9/21/16
in looking to see if fish identified as Blue Runner was edible I found a pic of a Greater Amberjack and that is it.... that is a match. It is not a Blue Runner as they have that pic too and it is not the same.

It is a blue runner and they have become somewhat common the last few years in the late summer and early fall across New England.
A quick thought on your post, though. Why keep a fish if you can't ID it?

right on Sea Dangles....It just looked to good not to eat. I'm kinda doing a "taste test" amongst all the different fish caught and this one will be in the mix.... Nothing go to waste.

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.

Toby's right, it's a blue runner. I fished for Sailfish out of West Palm one winter and we "kited" blue runners.

I did not know how to add pic here of the Greater Amberjack so I edited my original post above so you can see.

My son caught a few last year jigging the dock. I thought it was a greater jack. But RoyL identified it as a blue runner. I'd say I would have to listen to Roy.
