New rod
I'm looking to build a rod that I'll be using what few times I go at the canal and more often beach/bolder fields.....
Not much of a shore guy and not looking to spend big. Figured if l had a half way descent set up I'd get out there more.
I'm looking at this and thinking it may be too wimpy, I dun no :-)

And would appreciate comments and suggestions,,,, no, I don't have the reel yet :-)

Hit up CMS - you'll get to feel built rods and get an idea for what you like. That rod is likely too light for the canal unless it's slack.

Get something rated 1-4 or 1-5
Most surf plugs are 1.5-3.5oz
If you don't plan on jigging the canal you have a ton of options
Rainshadow 1267 is a nice rod
Like BFT said go to cms and check out some built rods and blanks, the staff there Eric and Charlie are more than happy to help and set you up

OK
I was lucky enough to pick up a GSB1201 M at a great price from a member here ,,, thanks again
I'm probably looking at too light of reels but liking the price point and the weight, do u's guys think one of these would be ballsy enough for that rod,,, Not a lot of canal time, I think "I dun no"....
ST5000XGFK Stradic FK
SP6000SW Spheros SW
SRG6000SW Saragosa SW

The Saragosa (and probably spheros) is a heavier reel, I think, than the Stradic and likely do fine. I suspect the Stradic 5000 would feel unbalanced, even with very light guides and is probably not as strong a reel as the blank can utilize.

Either of those reels in 6K or 8K is fine for that rod. I'd prefer 8k ,but thats just me. A 1201M and a ZX27 is my swimming set up ,great for plugs/eels.
I like the blank so much I got one in conventional and that's my canal eeling rod.

Lol...I teach him how to stay out all night fishing, run around with guns and quality swear words...He gets his good qualities from his Mother. Thanks Ray.

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.
